'REDWOOD VORTEX' - Villa Montalvo, Saratoga, California.
A temporary 60’ structure, woven in willow and Poplar around a Redwood Tree behind the gallery at the Villa and commissioned as part of the outdoor sculpture program.

The work formed an outside part of a one person exhibition called ‘Whorls’ which included two installations in the gallery: Fingerprints a mural in red earth on the walls of 24 squared fingerprints, sponsored and donated by friends of the gallery, and an installation on the floor called Sequoia Whirlpool; a mattress of sticks and redwood needles. (see SHOWS AND INSTALLATIONS).

A Giclee print of the 24 fingerprints was made in an addition of 36. All three works made connections between movements of fluids in the body and movement of water on the planet, with reference to the way sap flows in trees.

A 12 minute film of the project was made for Spark TV.
