| An idea looking for a site |
|
For a few years now I have had an idea for a Horizon
Line Chamber on a coastal site. This idea is very much to the fore
this year because an independent curator, Gareth Evans, with a grant from
the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, is looking for artists with an idea and a
place in mind to collaborate on his
Re-Enchantment Project, developing artists’ responses to place and
its meanings across the UK. So, with this in mind, I am looking for a
location and an enthusiastic community to realise one of these two ideas
in collaboration with The Re-Enchantment:
1.
Horizon Line Chamber –
A small stone chamber on a coastal
site facing North East or North West. A small lens or aperture in the
wall projects a circular image divided by the horizon line between sea
and sky. The image will be upside down with the sea on top and will be
constantly changing with the light and weather conditions. In the
drawing this chamber would be best in a dry stone in an area where
something like slab sandstone is easily available
